For Christ sake...

or my own? Why else would I start reading the Bible after all this time? Maybe it was becoming the elephant on my potential book shelf. I have read so many books, and although many have been brilliant and magical, some have been crap. I have thought about reading Mein Kampf (what fun), the Koran, and the book of Mormon out of curiosity. This only served to make a stronger case for the Bible. Reading Larry McMurtry or even Stephen King before THB was one thing, but Hitler? Or the M&M religious guides for that matter. Of course I'm starting with my/his/our book and skipping right over the old testament. Not a big angry God guy, but Jesus is a different story. He's worth reading about, whether he was the Son of God or not.

Oh yeah, so far I've learned that Methuselah was Noah's grandfather, the ark was built from gopher wood, and coolest of all, Genesis 9:3

"Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things."

Family Man

Saturday my bride and I eloped to our backyard. Tina got twenty days notice. She was a beautiful bride and I'm a happy guy.

Here's our song.

Like life isn't weird enough already.

I like to do the daily crossword. Must have done hundreds, no, thousands of them. These days I do the one on Yahoo's homepage. Last week I made up a game within the game. How far could I go through the across clues before I was stymied? Never too far up until now. I'd keep track and have something to shoot for. So I began....and didn't stop until I'd answered every one. I employed a crutch though. For each across clue, I had a few down clues revealed. I could look at them for a letter here and a letter there.

Opening rack in Scrabble and I'd been looking at it for awhile. I knew they were good, no great tiles and there had to be a seven letter word. I let the computer sleep while I ate and watched Two and 1/2 Men. Charlie was, for some mysterious reason, determined to avoid his neighbor, Rose. She was obsessed with Charlie to the point of stalking him. It was their 'shtick'. So dinner over, I turn the screen back on and took about a second to see S T A L K E R. It's weird sometimes.

Catch a Rising Star

The Yarbles (circa 09) will appear again at St Johns 'No Fest', @ Patty's Homeplate @ 2:30. Nick, Quinn & Jack are ready to rock. This is from last year and it is worth mentioning that it was recorded on his Dad's cell phone. Also, Nick is singing into a guitar microphone, which didn't help. I'll post next week if anybody records and uploads their set.

Smells like summer

My friends Norah and Margaret came by yesterday with strawberries and blueberries from Sauvie's Island. The last strawberries I bought from Safeway were big and red, and even tasted and smelled vaguely like real strawberries. Of course they were as expensive as they were tasteless, so I ate them out of principle. So, yes, I am enjoying my fresh berries this morning and thanks ladies! For Father's Day my stepson Nick rolled me over to our local movie house, the totally cool St Johns Twin Cinema, to watch 'Up'. Another home run for Pixar. Beautifully drawn (oops, they don't "draw" anymore, do they?), really funny and heartwarming. You'll love Kevin & Doug! We stopped at our friend Jeffrey's gelato shop next door to grab a pint to go and shoot the breeze for a minute before rolling home. Wimbledon starts today (speaking of strawberries) and once again I'm not seeded. With Rafa out, Fed's chances of getting that 15th slam look pretty good, but look out for Murray. Peace

Vote for Pedro

and your wildest dreams will come true! Don't know how it panned out for Pedro's constituents, since there was no sequel to 'Napoleon Dynamite', but Barack's got a chance. For starters, he's not going to meddle in State's rights regarding medicinal marijuana. Poor pharmaceutical companies. I'm getting all choked up for them. If I let myself worry about HMO's getting cut out of the l$$p, I'm afraid I'll just fall to pieces!
